Moderate Price Accommodations in Olinda
Mid Priced Accommodation in Olinda offers some great options:
Hotel 7 Colinas This is a very comfortable hotel in a perfect location. It is a tropical green oasis in Olinda with a very nice pool surrounded by palm trees. In my early trips to Brazil, I always stayed here. It a very nice and relaxing get away, but perhaps not the best location if you want an action-packed sightseeing holiday. For that, you would be better to stay centrally-based in Boa Viagem, Recife. This is one of the most expensive options in Olinda and worth a treat for 2-3 days if you want to explore Olinda. (FromR$200) Ladeira do São Francisco 307, Olinda (81) 3493 7766 BOOK IT NOW with Hidden Pousadas online reservations
Pousada dos Quatro Cantos A very well located Pousada in an historic old house, with a pool and many nice features such as shadded verandas where breakfasts can be enjoyed. There are just 20 rooms, some with balconys and views of the city. This seems like good value for money for a well run Pousada with such character and atmosphere.(R$100-321 for a double room in high season, 30% discount in low season) Rua Prudente de Moraes 441, Olinda (81) 3429 0220. Pousda Peter A very nice Pousada owned and operated by one of Olinda´s artists. Good facilities and a pool. There are many options and prices vary a lot according to room type, number of people and season. Some rooms have great views. Having said all that, this is the next best option after Pousada dos Quatro Cantos (see above). (prices vary considerably) Rua do Amparo 215, Olinda. (81) 3439 2171
Casa Maloca This bar / restaurant and club for artists in the heart of Olinda offers 6 rooms in a traditional old house. The nicer rooms are upstairs, lighter and more airy, but all rooms have old-world charm with wooden floors, ceilings and panelling. The balcony at the back of the dining area has a very nice view and is a perfect location for breakfast or drinks and petiscos (snacks) in the evening. Full dinners are also available by reservation. (R$80-120for a double room) Rua do Amparo 183, Olinda (81) 3429 7811
Pousada Alto Astral A small hotel in a good central location. It seems quite overpriced compared to other options in close proximity, given the quite cramped and claustrophobic rooms. The only exception is the larger room upstairs and at the back of the house, which looks like a much better value for money and has external windows with a very nice view. This year a five-night carnival package for is R$2,000 for a double room. (R$80-100 for a double room) Rua 13 de Maio 305, Olinda (81) 3439 3453.
Pousada de São Pedro This Pousada is in an excellent location in the heart of the historic city. The rooms are charming and the owners appear very friendly. The house is small and cosy, clean and comfortable. It benefits from original features, plus a garden with a pool. Airport pick-ups are also offered.
